Who is stalking rancher Glen Bennett?  Glen's daughter Lisa is sure the accidents dogging her father are malicious, but Glen is set on ignoring them and refuses to allow Lisa to call the police or a P.I..  Desperate, Lisa turns to her old friend, veterinarian Gail McCarthy for help.

    Gail knows something odd is going on at the Bennett Ranch; two dead horses in one weekend is an awful lot of bad luck.  But the accidents don't make sense.  What motive could the stalker have?

    Suspects abound: Glen's ornery foreman, distant wife, longtime mistress and her husband, resentful son, and violent ex-son-in-law.  But Gail can find no obvious evidence to prove which one is the culprit.  As she struggles to put the facts together, the accidents surrounding Glen become more dangerous; the stalker is moving towards murder.

    Despite dealing with a busy work schedule and an errant boyfriend, Gail is eventually able to unravel the puzzle, only to find herself pitted against a brutal killer on the open range.  In her efforts to save Glen's life, she puts her own life on the line--and all her strength and courage to the test.
